Subscription Review: How to Find and Manage Recurring Charges

To review subscriptions, check the statements and payment services you use, list each recurring charge, and decide whether to keep, change, or cancel it. No single statement or app-store list shows every subscription, so compare multiple sources before you finish the review.

Gather the records

Look through recent bank and card statements, digital wallets, payment services, and mobile app-store subscription pages. Search your email for receipts and renewal notices when a merchant name is unclear. Include annual and quarterly charges as well as monthly ones.

Record the service, amount, billing interval, payment method, next renewal date if known, and the person who uses it. Use the provider’s account page to confirm cancellation steps and whether access ends immediately or at the end of the paid period.

Decide what to do with each charge

For every service, ask:

  • Do I still use it?
  • Does another service or bundle already include the same benefit?
  • Is there a less expensive plan that still meets the need?
  • Is the renewal date close enough that I must act now?
  • Will cancelling affect another person on the account?

Keep a note or calendar reminder for trials and annual renewals. Do not rely on a reminder to cancel unless you know which account and payment method it covers.

Use the same currency for every amount. This tool does not convert currencies.

Recheck after changes

After you cancel or change a plan, look for a confirmation and review the next statement. If a charge continues, contact the provider or payment service and keep a copy of the communication. A recurring charge you do not recognize may need a separate fraud or billing inquiry.

Can an expense tracker find subscriptions for you?

Yomio does not connect to bank accounts or automatically detect recurring charges. You can enter a recurring payment record yourself and use receipt or expense records to review spending, but you must compare them with your statements and manage cancellations with the service provider.

For a subscription review, use your bank, card issuer, app store, and merchant account records as the sources of truth. A tracker can help organize the information you enter; it cannot guarantee that every subscription has been found.

Warning

Monthly plans are only part of the total. Add quarterly and annual renewals using the same time period, and note which charges are billed through app stores, payment services, or merchants.

Information

Email receipts and renewal notices can help identify a service or clarify a merchant name. Compare each message with a payment record before adding it to your list.

Success

If you no longer want a service, check its cancellation terms and whether another person on the account uses it. Then choose whether to cancel, change plans, or keep it.

Warning

The goal is to know which recurring charges you have and decide whether they still fit your priorities. A list of confirmed charges can support that choice.

Review recurring charges with your own records

Use receipts and manual expense entries to keep records of recurring charges, then check renewal dates and terms with each provider.
